So…what’s a Kiwi?

Bede Fahey, co-founder and Chief Technology Nerd

Yes, the accent is real. Bede Fahey originally hails from Christchurch, New Zealand, a beautiful and technologically sophisticated country that happens to have more sheep than people. He has studied computing at St Bede’s College in Christchurch, and at Harrisburg Area Community College, Lancaster, PA where he received his Associates’ Degree with highest honors.

Of the generation that has tinkered with computers practically from birth, Bede saw a knowledge gap in the Central PA community about blogging, web marketing, search engine optimization, and social media. He teamed up with Kae to teach detailed classes on these subjects through the Lancaster County Business library system. Excellent reviews poured in, the classes filled, and class waiting lists formed. The Lancaster campus of Harrisburg Area Community College also contracted with Bede to teach its first ever class on social media in September 2009.

With this evidence of an unmet need for practical information about the fast-moving online world, Bede and Kae formed Kiwi Marketing Group, specialists in web marketing and social media consulting. Bede has worked on a number of websites, search engine optimization campaigns, and social media plans for Lancaster businesses and non-profits. Bede’s passion is to help these organizations achieve the online visibility and results they deserve.

When not advising organizations on how build an effective online presence, Bede divides his time between being an ice hockey goalie and trying to make his accent understood by American automated phone systems.

Kae Kohl, co-founder and Chief Marketing Nerd

Kae Kohl was raised in Delaware County, PA and attended Cornell University, freezing through four Ithaca winters to get her Bachelor’s in Economics. Better weather beckoned her to San Francisco where she spent 20+ years honing her marketing and sales skills in financial services, venture capital, and consulting to technology companies like IBM, Apple, and the computer gaming industry. In addition to sometimes commuting to work via cable car, Kae also was co-author of the first ever Mac/PC compatibility guide published by Apple.

A helper at heart, Kae has served as a counselor for SCORE, advising numerous small businesses on marketing strategies and tactics. She is now pursuing her MBA from Eastern University and was recently accepted as a member of the Lancaster County Speakers Bureau.

Kae has been doing business online since 1987, and advocating online marketing to her consulting clients for over twenty years. Moving to Lancaster in 2003, she found that few people were educating small businesses or organizations about the potential and specific methods of marketing a business online.

To remedy that, in October 2008, Kae and Bede began teaching classes on blogging, web marketing, search engine optimization, and social media through the Lancaster County Business Library System. Based on the popularity of those classes, it occurred to Kae and Bede there was an unmet need in Central PA for down-to-earth, authentic assistance and advice on how to build a compelling online presence.

When not advising organizations about online and social media marketing, Kae spends her time reading every mystery story she can find, doing her MBA homework, and trying to convince her nephews that she is still cool enough to talk to.
